Shelley developed her appreciation for the value of relevant and timely financial information and the critical role it plays in shaping lives and determining the wellbeing of communities early in her business career. Upon graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree, Shelley joined Deloitte in the Accounting Division for Small Owner Managed Enterprises, Real Estate and Not for Profits at Deloitte’s flagship Office in Toronto. It was here that she honed her skills and fueled her personal interest in helping businesses – owners and management teams – understand and optimize their financial performance. 

The opportunity to have a greater impact on performance outcomes lured Shelley away to work for a large Canadian retailer interacting directly with franchise owners. Key to Shelley’s proven ability to help others succeed was her own entrepreneurial spirit. Shelley and her husband invested in their first franchise operation in 2001, an enterprise that they have owned and operated together for 20 years.  Diverse business opportunities found them living and working in 4 different communities in 3 provinces where they operated businesses of varying sizes in unique community conditions.  Shelley embraces the challenges of changing circumstances, an essential ingredient to the operational and personal success of her dynamic and enduring partnership with her husband.

Shelley’s financial performance and administration skills continue to guide her business operations and her experience and responsibilities have grown to include regulatory compliance, human resource operations, health and safety, and training.

True to her beliefs, Shelley has supported various communities through her volunteer work with non-profit organizations through the years. 

Shelley loves living in Victoria and, together with her husband, raising their teenage sons.
